Ontario land transfer tax is the tax you must pay to the government after the transaction closes when you acquire land (and the property on it) or a beneficial interest in the land. The amount of this tax mostly depends on the property’s value. However, there are several additional factors, such as mortgage obligations, First-Time Home Buyer incentives and Non-Resident Speculation Tax, that can add to or reduce the total LTT amount.
